A scholarship opportunity just for BA and MA Humanities majors!
APPLICATION DEADLINE for Spring semester funding is NOVEMBER 13, 2020
WHO IS IT FOR?
You must be a declared Humanities Major or MA student
Humanities BA Students:
••Must have completed at least 6 units of Humanities classes toward the B.A.
••Must be currently enrolled at least half time
••Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
Humanities MA Students:
••Must have completed or be in the process of completing at least 6 units of the M.A.
••Must be currently enrolled in at least 3 units
••have a graduate GPA of at least 3.0
•• Students of any citizenship are eligible
•• Financial need is not a requirement, but is taken into consideration
Awards range from 1,000 to 5,000, and can be used to cover the cost of attending school (tuition, books, computer, living expenses).
Kaufmann scholarships are awarded every semester; students may apply (and be awarded) more than once.
HOW TO APPLY:
•1 Go to https://sfsu.academicworks.com/
(and while there, take a look at other scholarship opportunities. You may be surprised.)
•2 Sign in and create a profile (whether you decide to apply or not. This will make everything easier.)
•3 Go to the Edward B. Kaufmann Scholarship - Humanities Dept.
In applying, you will be asked:
• to upload a current SFSU unofficial transcript
• to request two letters of recommendation by Humanities instructors (NOTE: you initiate this request from within AcademicWorks, and faculty upload their letters directly to the site. Please also contact faculty directly to let the know to expect the request.)
• to describe the significance of the Humanities MA program to your intellectual and personal development, in 300-500 words.
• to give a brief statement of your financial need, describing how you are financing your education. If you are receiving financial aid from SFSU, please include the date of your application for financial aid. Financial need is not a requirement, but we will take it into consideration.
