Liberal Studies Emphasis Patterns

Liberal Studies majors are encouraged to consider choosing a minor, which is one way to satisfy their "emphasis" requirement.  Minors typically require 18-21 units, which would mean adding only 3-6 units to your major. A minor (unlike an emphasis pattern) will show up on your diploma and on your transcript, and will make you a stronger candidate for future endeavors. To sign up for a minor, go see an advisor in your program of choice.

Otherwise, LS majors must choose an emphasis pattern from one of the options below. Those who plan to get multiple subject credentials are encouraged (but not required) to choose the Elementary Teacher Preparation pattern.
